Precinct Omega Podcast
If you're after a new podcast to listen to, then I can thoroughly recommended the Precinct Omega hobbycast. It's five episodes old, and I'm really enjoying it, it's a change from the usual podcast fair as it focuses purely on hobby stuff for all different types of miniature painting. Robey from Precinct Omega studios is a great painter so the information is very good (he used to go to my local club before he moved down south), so check out his podcast here, or search for precinctomega on iTunes.

40k Radio Freebootaz Webzine: New issue out now
The new issue of the Freeboota magazine is now available for download from the 40k Radio site, so go over and take a look. I'm a Freeboota myself (Tigerstyle on the forums) and I know that the guys that work on the magazine do a crap ton of work to get it to the high quality state it is so support them by downloading it and giving it a read.
If you aren't a Freeboota, then I would highly recommend you consider becoming one. The 40k Radio Freeboota forum is a great forum without all the unenjoyable things you get on other forums. Everyone is a great help to each other, and supportive of everyones efforts in the hobby. On top of that you get extra content and support the alway enjoyable 40k Radio show.
In other news, I'm putting some final touches to my unit of Chaos Chosen as I won't get anything done next week. I'll also be putting up a review/overview of a new boardgame I've just got (expect that tomorrow probably), and I'll be gaming tomorrow night so there should be a battle report towards the end of the week.

The end of Podhammer
I'm really sad to see that Jeff over at the always excellent Podhammer has been forced to close his doors on his superb podcast. I sincerely hope that Jeff gets things sorted out in his personal life soon. His podcast will stand as a trailblazer for all podcasts in terms of quality, content and professionalism, and I for one will miss it.
Good luck, Jeff, with all your future endeavours.

It's been a while...
...but I'm back in the painting saddle. I hadn't painted for a while, and my interest has slipped, so I'd been doing some other things. Anyway, I had two long drives last so I slapped on 4 back to back episodes of 40k Radio, 2 of Podhammer, and a D6G, and it re-inspired me. Last night, I managed to pretty much finish off the Seraphim, so they just need basing. They're not the greatest minis I've ever done, and I still suck at painting skin and faces. Pics when I get home.
Dropped into my local GW on Saturday. They've got a veteran's night every Tuesday, so I think I will try and get along there with my CSMs and actually get a game in. Just need the vindicator finishing off for 1500 points of Nurgle.

World's End Radio
You might already have heard this all new GW podcast, because as usual I'm behind the curve on these things. I've listened to the first episode this week, and I enjoyed it, the guys presented it were pretty professional and had some good knowledge. They're going to be covering LOTR as well apparently, which is a system I don't know much about so I'm interested to find out more about it. You can find the show at: worldsendradio.com.

New podcasts and 40K 5th Edition
I've listened to a couple of new editions of podcasts this week. 40K Radio have got a new edition out which they've recorded on location and covering some parts of 5th edition and it's excellent as always. There's also a new edition of Podhammer out as well where they're talking about the Brettonian army list. I don't play WHFB myself (I do own the 7th ed rule book though) but Podhammer is always an excellent listen.
My new Warhammer 40000 5th Edition rule book arrived on Wednesday. I had hoped to get it a bit quicker as I'd pre-ordered it form Total Wargamer but that was not to be. Anyway, I haven't had much time to read it in detail, I've just flicked through it. I have seen a pre-release copy at a GW store and seen it in action in a couple of games in the same store. The background section of the rule book is huge and looks great, but I was a bit disappointed that there is no detailed army page for either Witch Hunters or Daemon Hunters. The D6 Generation did an awesome and detailed podcast on 5th Edition with Yakface from Dakka Dakka which is worth a listen to get the low down on the changes.
Personally, I think the biggest game changing change is the change to having only troops holding objectives. Given that 2/3 of all the missions are objective based I think this is going to change alot of lists. I've already tweaked my Witch Hunters list to drop the Dominion squad I had (they're a Fast Attack choice) in favour of another Sister squad. I'm also going to drop my Assassins in favour of some Celestians and the changes to the CC rules mean that the the Assassins (either DCA or Eversor) can't clear their kill zone on the charge so they're just going to get piled on and squashed. Maybe I'm misreading this but that's the ways I'm seeing it.
